LGS Specialty Sales lemons from Argentina arriving
Importer LGS Specialty Sales Ltd., New Rochelle, N.Y., anticipates a “solid” 2019 Argentinian lemon season.
The Darling Lemons brand, added to the company’s Darling Citrus product line in 2018, are available in 2-, 3- and 5-pound bags, according to a news release.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture in late May 2018 allowed citrus from Argentina to be imported after an absence of more than 15 years due to pest concerns.
“The Argentina season will continue to show value to the U.S. market as California’s Coastal Region decreases production, resulting in higher prices of lemons,” Luke Sears, founder and president of LGS Specialty Sales, said in the release. “It is our intention to provide Darling Lemons from Argentina during the summer months to help balance the supply of this fruit to U.S. consumers.”
