San Miguel’s Cut ‘N Clean Greens celebrate 25th anniversary

Dubbed the ‘original dark leafy greens in a bag,’ San Miguel Produce’s Cut ‘N Clean Greens is marking its 25th anniversary.

Roy Nishimori, president and CEO, launched Cut ‘N Clean Greens in 1995 with a direct store delivery program with retailers in Los Angeles County, according to a news release from San Miguel Produce, Oxnard, Calif.

“As I look back at our first 25 years, I am proud of our innovation and continued growth in the category,” Nishimori said in the release. “At our core is our family of employees, and without them and our retail partners this milestone would not be possible.“

At the time, Nishimori saw a need for a value-added bagged greens to market to southern consumers, citing phone surveys and feedback from regional events.

Since then, the brand’s core items of collard, mustard and turnip greens have grown to include other items that have grown in popularity, including Tuscan kale and chard, according to the release. Other items like Kale Chip Kits have been added over the years.

The Cut ‘N Clean Greens line continues its #HealthyMyWay initiative, encouraging consumers to use greens in any way that fits their lifestyle. Recipes will be developed and shared throughout the year with a focus on the holiday season.

“For 25 years the company has looked forward to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season where greens are the focus of many dishes,” Jan Berk, chief operating officer, said in the release. “While celebrations might look a little different this year, greens will remain a staple in kitchens across the country.”
