Schnuck Markets Inc. says total store remodels have commenced at its Cross Keys location in Florissant, Miss., and its Hampton Village location in south St. Louis.

“Not only is Schnucks committed to continued growth in new communities, we are also committed to remodeling and renovating our existing stores in the neighborhoods that we have served for decades,” David Carey, vice president of construction and maintenance for Schnucks, said in a news release. “Teammates at both our Cross Keys and Hampton Village locations are prepared and ready to continue offering their customers the highest level of service while their stores are under construction.”

The Cross Keys remodel is expected to be completed by late fall 2024. The  renovation aims to enhance the shopping experience for customers, featuring new entrances, lighting and decor, Schnucks says.

Among the notable changes are the expansion and relocation of the produce department as well as key departments, including bakery, wine, beer and liquor, according to the release. The remodel also includes a fresh sushi area, an expanded frozen food and dairy section and an upgraded seafood department. Additionally, the deli department is set to undergo both renovation and expansion.

The Cross Keys location, initially opened in 2003, is a significant part of Schnucks' history at the intersection of North Lindbergh Boulevard and New Halls Ferry Road. This remodel marks a substantial investment in the store's future, with new check lanes and self-checkouts being introduced. The renovation not only reinforces Schnucks' dedication to meeting the evolving needs of its customers but also ensures that the Cross Keys location remains a cornerstone in the community. With a comprehensive update touching various departments, the remodel reflects Schnucks' commitment to maintaining a contemporary and customer-focused retail experience.

Also anticipated for completion by late fall 2024, the Hampton Village remodel encompasses various enhancements, including new lighting and decor, a new refrigeration system and an expanded bakery department, Schnucks says. The store's footprint is set to undergo a strategic transformation, with the relocation and expansion of key departments such as wine, beer and liquor, fresh sushi, frozen food, and dairy.

The produce department is set for both renovation and expansion, signaling Schnucks' commitment to providing an extensive and high-quality selection of fresh produce, the releases said. A new cheese shop will also be introduced, adding a specialized touch to the store's offerings. New check lanes and self-checkouts will be incorporated.

Originally acquired as part of the 1995 National acquisition, the Hampton Village store spans 63,000 square feet. As the second Schnucks store in the Hampton Village shopping plaza, Schnucks says this remodel not only underscores its dedication to staying at the forefront of the grocery retail landscape, but also reinforces its longstanding presence in the St. Louis community. With 116 dedicated teammates, the Hampton Village location is poised to continue serving as a vital hub for residents, complemented by the forthcoming improvements that aim to enhance the overall customer experience, the release said.

During and after the remodels, customers can continue to use Schnucks Delivers and Curbside Pickup through Instacart, according to the release.
