Driscoll’s launches Sweetest Batch Blueberries

Driscoll’s has launched Sweetest Batch Blueberries — the newest addition to its limited edition collection.

The line also includes Rosé Berries and Sweetest Batch Strawberries and Raspberries.

Plans are also underway for Sweetest Batch Blackberries, according to a news release.

“The fresh berry category continues to lead the growth of the produce industry and the blueberry experienced a double-digit growth in retail sales,” Frances Dillard, senior director of brand and product marketing at Driscoll’s, said in the release.

Limited edition Driscoll’s berries are available in select cities for a limited time, according to the release.

“We are excited about this new product innovation that leverages our best proprietary genetics to bring a big, extra-sweet flavor offering to our consumers” Annie Duner, product marketing manager at Driscoll’s, said in the release. “Driscoll’s goal is to generate buzz and excitement in an otherwise commodity driven category.”

Driscoll’s will be at booth No. 3945 at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit Expo Oct. 18-19 in Anaheim, Calif.

As part of a new Fresh Summit feature, the Experience Extension’s Fresh Connections: Films, Driscoll’s documentary, “The Last Harvest,” will be aired. The film focuses on farm labor, and it will be followed by a discussion. Soren Bjorn, Driscoll’s president of the Americas, will be on the panel.

The event starts at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 in Room 213B on level 3 of the Anaheim Convention Center.
