Mushroom Council, restaurant chain feed health care workers

The Mushroom Council has joined B.GOOD restaurants’ mission of donating blended burgers and vegetable bowls featuring mushrooms to health care workers in the Boston area during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The burgers, featuring a mix of ground turkey and mushrooms, and vegetable bowls have gone to employees at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital, according to a news release.

Deliveries began in early April, with Boston-based B.GOOD donating 350 meals to those facilities. The restaurant chain plans to give 700 more meals the second week of April.

The restaurant chain has partnered with the Mushroom Council in the past, with the introduction of the Turkey Medley mushroom blended burger in fall 2009. The Mushroom Council donated funds for B.GOOD to prep the burgers and Sunny Side Harvest bowl, according to the release.

DoorDash is delivering the food and waiving fees.

“We have never felt more of a calling to live up to our company name, and we are grateful for the support from the Mushroom Council to provide this food for our local heroes,” Lizzy Jenkins, director of marketing for B.GOOD, said in the release. “Mushrooms are not a super food, but a hero food for the first responders in our area.”
