FPAA holds first-ever baseball clinic
The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas held its first-ever Tomateros Youth Baseball Clinic in Nogales, Ariz.
The Oct. 7-8 event, brought in professional players from the Tomateros team, Culiacan, Mexico, and the Nogales High School Apaches team to teach kids baseball and hone their skills, according to a news release.
Thirty children aged 4-15 participated in the clinic, which concluded with a three-inning game on Sunday for the 4-9 age group, the release said.
“It was so great to see the Tomateros teaching skills to aspiring young ball players,” Lance Jungmeyer, president of FPAA, said in the release. “Our communities are so tied together through business and cultural ties. This is another way to strengthen our cooperation and to help Nogales better understand the cultural connection to where our produce comes from.”
