Onion grower and importer G&R Farms, Glenville, Ga., is shipping Peruvian sweet onions that are Rainforest Alliance Certified.

The certification program ensures growers meet comprehensive standards for sustainability, for how crops are grown and safeguarding the rights of workers and their families.

G&R Farms grows and markets Vidalia sweet onions, and imports Peruvian onions.

“The sweet onions we import from Peru are grown in ways that benefit farm families, wildlife and the environment,” Walt Dasher, vice president and chief financial officer, said in a news release. “We support our growers and their efforts to help protect the environment and ensure sustainable livelihoods.”
