New enterprise H&S FreshPak kicks off potato season
Hoople, N.D.-based Hall’s G4 (Generation 4) and Crystal, N.D.-based O.C. Schulz & Sons Inc. bought Northern Valley Growers in Hoople and launched the new enterprise at the former Northern Valley facility under the H&S FreshPak banner in June, said TJ Hall, president.
Andy Moquist, from O.C. Schulz, is vice president of the new operation, Hall said. Colleen Vincent, who had been sales director for Northern Valley, continues as manager, and other former Northern Valley employees have been retained, Hall said.
“It’s a wash plant similar to what we do at Schulz,” said Dave Moquist, president of O.C. Schulz & Sons.
“This will offer us some extra volume we can help take care of our customers with.”
The ownership is a 50-50 partnership, Moquist said.
H&S FreshPak has put together an arrangement to get sales help from Buxton, N.D.-based Nokota Packers.
The new owners have refurbished all storage bin wells at the former Northern Valley facility, which has a capacity of about 200,000 cwt., Hall said, noting that it added to an existing 250,000 cwt. that Hall’s already had.
