The Food and Drug Administration has extended the comment period for the Food Safety Modernization Act’s Laboratory Accreditation Program proposed rule.

The FDA published the rule in the Federal Register on Nov. 4, with comments due by March 3. The agency will now accept public comments on the proposal until April 6, according to a news release. The extension allows stakeholders to “fully consider the proposal and submit comments,” according to the release.

The FDA expects to have a final version of the rule by Feb. 4, 2022.
