Pennsylvania association awards Kegel’s Produce for food safety

The Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association has given Kegel’s Produce, Lancaster, Pa., the Excellence in Food Safety Award.

The Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association has given Kegel’s Produce, Lancaster, Pa., the Excellence in Food Safety Award.

The association recognizes industry members whose efforts go “above and beyond” with efforts in food safety and sanitation, according to a news release from Kegel’s Produce.

Over the years, the company has developed and updated a food safety program, and enlisted Comprehensive Food Safety, a company that handles consulting and training, and quality and third-party food safety initiatives. Kegel’s recently received SQF certification.

“Kegel’s Produce is extremely proud to have been awarded the Excellence in Food Safety by the PRLA and to be recognized by peers for all of the effort and work that goes into ensuring our customers that we are doing our best to protect them on the food safety front,’' Kenneth G. Myers, chief operating officer, said in the release. “With the recent addition of our SQF Certification, we are taking every measurable step to protect our customers from any harmful biological and physical factors.”
