Norfolk, Va.-based Catalytic Generators has developed the Ethy-Gen II ripening concentrate, which the company said offers safety advantages compared to other solutions.
The company said in a news release that there are no harmful byproducts produced when the concentrate is converted to ethylene in one of the company’s ethylene generators.
Ethylene-producing generators of Catalytic Generators feature user-friendly operation, adjustable output settings, and continuous, consistent ethylene production, according to the release. The system consists of a catalytic-type generator that converts Ethy-Gen II into safe levels of ethylene, which is a natural plant hormone produced by fruits including bananas, tomatoes, avocados, mangoes and pears.
The release said Catalytic Generators’ ethylene generators and Ethy-Gen II ripening concentrate form a system that, when used as directed, produces these lower concentrations (less than 1,000 ppm) of ethylene required for ripening.
Catalytic Generators produce small, controlled amounts of ethylene and cannot produce explosive amounts of ethylene, according to the release.
The company said it will be exhibiting at booth No. 548 at the Southeast Regional Fruit & Vegetable Conference, Jan. 9-12 in Savannah, Ga., at Booth #548.
