The Food and Drug Administration said Nam & Son of Jessup, Md., has recalled its 1-pound bags of soybean sprouts with a sell-by date of Dec. 14, 2023, because of a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The FDA said these 1-pound bags were distrusted to retail stores in Virginia ranging from Dec. 6-7, 2023.

The company initiated the recall after a random sample collected and analyzed by the state of Virginia indicated the presence Listeria monocytogenes in the product, according to the FDA, which added that Nam & Sons started investigating the root cause of the problem.

The administration advises retail stores to remove the product with the sell-by date on the packaging.
