Hazel Technologies Inc., Chicago, is promoting its products to growers in Chile and has hired Pablo Silva to lead those efforts.
Silva is an agronomist with more than 20 years of experience in fresh produce, with roles at Summit Agro Chile, Sumitomo Corp. and BASF Chile. He is stationed in Santiago, according to a news release.
The launch of the company’s Chilean operations precedes the start of the 2020-21 export season. Hazel products, which prolong shelf lives of fruits and vegetables, including cherries, grapes, berries and stone fruit.
The company recently sponsored the Grape Quality Summit, a virtual event that focused on Chilean and Peruvian grape seasons. Hazel Tech has been tested on autumn royal and red globe grapes from Chile sent to Asia.
“Hazel has already made a huge impact in Latin America and we are now finally able to offer our unique and innovative technologies to the Chilean fresh produce industry,” Silva said in the release. “We expect our growth in Chile to advance as quickly as our growth in North America and other Latin American countries.”
