The deadline for applying for $72.4 million in Specialty Crop Block Grant Program funds is May 24.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a news release that the funds are designed to support expanding specialty crop food sector while exploring new market opportunities for U.S. food and agricultural products.

The USDA said the funds are allocated to U.S. states and territories based on a formula that considers both specialty crop acreage and production value. Applicants apply directly with state departments of agriculture, according to the release, and a list of state contacts is available on the USDA website.
