BeeHero’s Pollination Insight Platform has been named to Time’s list of the Best Inventions of 2024 in the agriculture category.

BeeHero developed PIP to provide visibility into the pollination process, according to a news release. PIP leverages patented, plug-and-play in-field sensors to collect real-time data on bee and other pollinators’ activity and environmental conditions across a variety of seed, row and specialty crops, which is then analyzed using proprietary artificial intelligence to generate actionable insights growers can use to optimize pollination strategies and increase crop yields, according to the company.

“We’re honored that Time recognizes PIP’s role in making the world a better, more sustainable place to live,” said Omer Davidi, CEO and co-founder of BeeHero. “At a time when growers face a growing demand for food and dwindling resources, effective pollination is essential to ensuring global food security. PIP not only maximizes pollination success but also strengthens pollinator and environmental resilience, helping create a more sustainable future for generations to come.”

To compile this year’s list, Time said it solicited nominations from Time editors and correspondents around the world, and through an online application process, paying special attention to growing fields — such as health care, AI and green energy. Time then evaluated each contender on a number of key factors, including originality, efficacy, ambition and impact.

PIP, which is currently deployed in 10 different crops across eight countries, complements BeeHero’s in-hive sensor solution, which uses low-cost, internet-connected sensors and proprietary algorithms to monitor bee health within hives and enable growers to take proactive action to create healthier, stronger colonies and improved pollination outcomes, the release said This achievement follows a groundbreaking year for the company, which now manages over 300,000 hives across 200,000 acres across the U.S., Europe and Australia, and collects over 25 million hive samples daily.

In addition to its placement on the Time Best Inventions 2024 list, BeeHero has recently been recognized by CNBC on its 2023 Disruptor 50 list, was listed on Cleantech Group’s 2024 Global Cleantech 100 for sustainable innovation, and won the top prize at the 2024 Founder’s Games for social impact, further cementing it as a leader in sustainable agriculture.
