Canadian kayaker Florence Maheu, who is qualified to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, is promoting the Half Your Plate fresh produce campaign.

Over the next year, she will be promoting the Half Your Plate message on social media channels, including sharing recipes and tips to increase produce consumption.

“We are thrilled to have Florence join our team as an ambassador for the Half Your Plate movement,” Ron Lemaire, Canadian Produce Marketing Association president, said in a news release. “She embodies the Half Your Plate initiative through sport and life, making her a tremendous role model for all.”

Maheu is a six-time Canadian champion in kayaking.

“Many people don’t realize how much of a difference it makes to fill Half Your Plate with fruits and vegetables,” she said in the release. “It’s such an easy thing to do to help you live a healthier lifestyle, and I’m looking forward to spreading this valuable message as a Half Your Plate ambassador.”

Maheu plans to promote the campaign on Instagram and Facebook.
