Grower, packer and shipper Catania Worldwide has a new location at the IMAS Fresh cold storage facility in McAllen, Texas.

The company has imported fresh produce through McAllen for 20 years, according to a news release, bringing in limes, cactus pears, lemons, figs and other produce. Matt Catania, the operation’s general manager said the company’s services, commodities and packing has grown exponentially, making the new McAllen location a necessity and opportunity.

“Until the time arrives where we are ready to open up our own facility, we will be operating out of IMAS Fresh,” Catania said in the release.

The location has cold storage capacity of 600 pallets, five docks and the capability to repackage and regrade product.

Catania Worldwide, Mississauga, also has operations in New Jersey, California (Stellar Distributing, Madera), and Mexico. The McAllen facility “increases our reach as an organization and allows us to provide better quality control and easier logistical pathways to service our customers,” Catania said in the release.
