CPMA Learning Lounge sessions offered online

The Canadian Produce Marketing Association, which joined other groups in cancelling its annual trade show because of the pandemic, is offering sessions online instead.

The Canadian Produce Marketing Association, which joined other groups in cancelling its annual trade show because of the pandemic, is offering sessions online instead.

The CPMA Learning Lounge Sessions and a virtual expo will allow produce industry members to participate in the annual event, which was scheduled for May 12-14 in Toronto.

The Learning Lounge Sessions cover hot topics, including food safety and retail trend, starting May 20 and the three following Wednesdays. All sessions are from 2-3 p.m. Eastern, according to a news release.

The online sessions, according to a news release are:

  • Food safety, May 20: Recent Canadian research and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. A senior executive from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and representatives from universities doing research funded by the Canadian Food Safety Fund will provide information and answer questions. Register online for the session.
  • Retail and Foodservice, May 27: Coast-to-Coast-to-Coast. A panel of buyers will discuss their experiences throughout Canada. Register online for the sesson.
  • Wholesale, June 3: A Focus on Today with an Eye to the Future. Wholesalers from across Canada will provide insight on the rapidly evolving wholesale segment and what it takes to be successful today and tomorrow. Register online for the session.
  • Production, Packaging and Distribution, June10: Panel members discuss reducing packaging and other changes in how produced is packaged. Register online for the session.

Other CPMA convention events have migrated online, including the annual new product showcase. CPMA will be announcing winners in the new products showcase on May 13.
