Massachusetts-based controlled environment agriculture grower Little Leaf Farms says it plans to add another greenhouse to its Pennsylvania campus.
The 10-acre greenhouse will be the company’s third on the McAdoo, Pa., site. The company says this addition will make the Pennsylvania location the largest controlled environment agriculture campus in North America.
“With our latest expansion in Pennsylvania, which increases our total acreage and supports our progress toward our goal of reaching $200 million in retail sales this year, we are well positioned to continue to lead the CEA leafy green industry,” Paul Sellew, founder and CEO of Little Leaf Farms, said in a news release. “Importantly, it expands our commitment of bringing fresh, leafy greens to all.”
The company said it represents 50% of packaged salad grown through CEA, and this development will help it continue to grow its customer base as it plans to open several more greenhouses to expand its offerings.
Little Leaf Farms also recently closed a new credit facility with a capacity of $250 million to support its expansion initiatives, according to the release. The company says its credit facilities comprise term loan facilities, delayed draw facilities and a revolving credit line.
“This funding will enable us to accelerate our growth plans, further strengthening our position as a leader in the CEA industry,” Sellew said.
