Mixtec Group is heralding its 40 years of providing senior-level recruitment and leadership consulting, including long-term contributions to the produce industry.

Its four decades of service has created long-lasting partnerships with organizations while helping them secure top talent and achieve strategic goals, the Los Angeles-based executive search firm said in a news release.

Ward Fredericks founded Mixtec Group in 1984, and the company shifted its recruiting focus to fresh produce in 1998 when Chris Nelson joined the team. Nelson’s vision to guide the company toward the relationship-driven agriculture industry proved to be fruitful, as Mixtec Group says it established itself as a trusted partner to key players in the fresh produce sector.

Today, Mixtec Group’s senior leadership team consists of seasoned professionals — including CEO Jerry Butt, Executive Vice President Kristen Reid and Vice President Emily Fragoso — each actively contributing to the betterment of the future of the agriculture industry, the release said. The leadership team’s contributions also have been recognized through prestigious accolades.

“Fresh produce stands out due to its exceptional people. For 25 years, I’ve worked with entrepreneurial, insightful owners, boards and CEOs who embody dedication and success,” Butt said. “Our role is to highlight their stories and connect them with truly extraordinary executives. Collaborating with these dynamic individuals to refine business strategies and enhance this great industry is, without a doubt, the most rewarding part of my business life.”

Mixtec Group connects senior management with growers, shippers, processors, distributors, associations, commissions and other ag-related organizations. The firm says it prides itself on the time taken at the beginning of each project to thoroughly understand its clients’ culture, current needs and vision for the future.

“I love what I do and the people I do it with. I serve an industry full of passionate people doing great things for the world,” Reid said. “I cannot think of a career more gratifying than the one I have. To be able to connect the right people with the right companies and see the incredible things they achieve together is inspiring. I am so fortunate to play a part in the evolution and advancement of this truly special industry.”

The company says it is deeply passionate about the produce industry, understanding its vital role in nourishing communities and improving global health through the increased consumption of fruits and vegetables. Mixtec Group’s senior leadership also serves in volunteer roles with major industry associations. The cumulative impact of its work is part of a commitment to elevating the produce sector and making the world a healthier, more vibrant place, the release said.

“It’s truly a privilege to partner with businesses in every stage of transformation and growth. Connecting talented executives with visionary organizations isn’t just about filling positions; it’s about forging relationships that have the potential to elevate people, companies, and the industry,” Fragoso said of her 11-year tenure. “Witnessing the ripple effect — from empowered leaders to thriving teams and an industry evolving — is nothing short of amazing. Here’s to four decades of impactful connections, and to many more years of shaping the future together.”

Those attending the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce and Floral Show this October in Atlanta can visit Mixtec Group at booth No. C2005.
