Kent, Wash.-based Pacific Coast Fruit Co., acquired Seattle-based Northwest Specialty Produce.

Both companies are multi-generational family businesses, according to a news release.

Together, they will increase Pacific’s reach, gain operational efficiencies and provide enhanced customer service capabilities by offering a more comprehensive line of produce, specialty items and programs from a single provider.

The acquisition was finalized Jan. 29.

Pacific Coast will incorporate Northwest’s line of specialty herbs and customer service, including merchandising. This acquisition strengthens Pacific’s growth in the Washington market, and adds warehouse and transportation efficiencies.

“For many years, we’ve been impressed with Northwest Specialty Produce and the reputation the company has earned for their great people, dedicated service to customers and high-quality products,” Pacific Coast CEO David Nemarnik said in the release.

On Jan. 30, Northwest Specialty’s leadership team will join Pacific Coast at its Kent facility, including Mark Adams, the former owner of Northwest Specialty Produce; Josh Adams, his son; and Gary Blanken, senior retail manager.
