Market conditions for Idaho potatoes in mid-October showed prices that were running stronger than year-ago levels.

Shippers generally expect stronger prices this season.
According to a U.S. Department of Agriculture Market News Report, shipping point prices for 50-pound cartons of size 40s russet norkotah potatoes from Twin Falls/Burley District, Idaho were running at $14-15.50 per carton on Oct. 8, compared with $10-12.50 per carton the same day last year and $11-16 per carton the same day in 2019.

Size 90 count Idaho potatoes were trading at $12-13 per carton on Oct. 8, nearly twice the $7-8 per carton the same time a year ago and well above the $8-9 per carton in 2019.
