Prepare for the United Fresh Washington Conference

The United Fresh Produce Association has a series of web seminars to prepare for the Washington Conference.

The United Fresh Produce Association has a series of web seminars to prepare for the Washington Conference.

The event, Sept. 16-18 in Washington, D.C., includes meetings with policymakers from the House and Senate, and the seminars are designed to participants learn about the hot legislative issues, how to communicate with members of Congress and what to expect during visits on the Hill in September, according to a news release. There is a charge for non-United Fresh members.

The seminars are:

Advocate: 2 p.m. Eastern, July 18 — Hear from Washington, D.C., insiders on legislation and regulations that will affect the produce industry. Registration is online.

Collaborate: 2 p.m. Eastern, Aug. 6 — The Washington Conference gives produce companies the opportunity to have their voices heard; this seminar discusses how to share their stories in effective, memorable ways. Registration is online.

Engage: 2 p.m. Eastern, Sept. 10 — Prepare for the House and Senate visits with United Fresh sharing tips on how to maximize those meetings at the conference. Registration is online.

Produce Advocacy Bootcamp

United Fresh has a new program for first-time conference participants, the Produce Advocacy Bootcamp.

The Sept. 16 program gives an overview of the industry’s key issues and strategies on how to share the industry’s voice in meeting with Senate and House members scheduled for Sept. 17-18, according to a news release.

The boot camp reviews basic elements of a Hill meeting, discussions of “policy asks,” tips from industry veterans on their Congressional visits, and role-playing exercises to help participants put what they’ve learned into action.
