The Packer’s Tom Karst visited on March 26 with Richard Owen, vice president of global membership and engagement for the Produce Marketing Association.

Owen talks about fruit and vegetable trade flows in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, and also shares the latest information on the stimulus packaged passed by the Senate.

The legislation’s $350 billion dollars in expanded Small Business Administration loans should help industry operations retain employees, Owen said, and the $9.5 billion in Emergency COVID-19 funding for producers, including fresh fruit and vegetable growers, is a key part of the legislation.
