Texas-based Rosen Systems says it will conduct an auction for the sale of assets formerly of Bowery Farming, an indoor smart farm. The auction features vertical farming equipment such as pallet structures with built-in conveyors, integrated power and LED lighting, water distribution, filtration and recycling systems, plus packaging equipment and more, according to a news release.
Founded in New York in 2015, Bowery Farming sought to create farms in big cities, so produce could be harvested and delivered to stores within one to two days for fresher produce availability.
Bowery produced its own proprietary automated system, BoweryOS. This system allowed Bowery Farming to focus on the output while the technology monitored the plants and controlled the environment the plants needed to survive, the release said.
In 2022, Bowery Farming announced its expansion to Arlington, Texas, by the first quarter of 2023. Financial delays followed by layoffs led the company to terminate its agreement with the city of Arlington in December 2023.
At the end of 2024, Bowery Farming ceased operations. Before the termination of its expansion, the company purchased new smart farm equipment that was never used.
Rosen Systems is hosting an online auction in March to sell this equipment following the landlord’s foreclosure of the property in Arlington.
Rosen says the sale closes March 25 at 10 a.m. Central Time. Interested parties can inspect items in the sale March 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 17101 S. Cooper St. in Arlington.
