Smith’s Farm says its Campaign for Produce is dedicated to increase the availability, access and consumption of fruits and vegetables while supporting local farmers.

Smith’s Farm said this campaign started as an “election” that pits broccoli against kale for the top spot on the dinner table, but it evolved into something greater: the need to increase access to fresh, locally grown produce and foster healthy eating habits.

The initiative has now grown into a movement that unites farmers, families and communities in the pursuit of a stronger, more sustainable future, according to a news release.

The company said it plans to use creative outreach such as cooking demonstrations, collaborations with schools and mobile food pantries and a dedicated social media campaign to inspire U.S. consumers to make healthier choices and to provide resources and support to growers.

Smith’s Farm will launch the campaign at the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce and Floral Show, set for Oct. 17-19 in Atlanta, the release said.
