Tom Lange sees path to growth in St. Louis market

The ability to remain focused, accessible and flexible in helping its customers, carriers and shippers manage the unpredictable nature of the produce market is helping The Tom Lange Co. grow as a distributor and transportation provider in the St. Louis market.

“We have seen growth and expansion with many of our St. Louis customers,” said Jeffery Moore, vice president of sales in the Midwest region for Tom Lange Co.

The company has seen continued growth in avocado sales and continues to excel in the berry category, he said.

Transportation services are important to customers in the current environment, he said.

“We have seen great demand in delivered sales and especially with (less than truckload),” he said.

Despite the driver and carrier shortage, Moore said Tom Lange has done a great job on leverag-ing the company’s carrier base and extending that capacity to existing customers as well as new customers.

Within the past year, mergers and acquisitions have been one of the major changes in the St. Louis market, he said.

“We have deeper and stronger relationships with our customers, carriers and vendors,” Moore said. “We’ve also found ways to be even more efficient. We are even closer as a team, and I didn’t know if that was possible.”
