United Fresh encourages Season of Giving Back

As a challenging year draws to a close, the United Fresh Produce Association is asking members should look to the challenges of 2021 and support the organization’s charitable efforts.

That was the message delivered to members Nov. 24 by United Fresh chairman Michael Muzyk, president of Bronx, N.Y.-based Baldor Specialty Foods.

“As we set our sights on what’s to come, I encourage you to join me in reflecting on the value that United Fresh has brought to you and your business this year,” Muzyk said in the e-mail. “Take steps to stay engaged as we head into the new year facing new challenges and opportunities.”

Specifically, Muzyk encouraged members to invest in a 2021 SmartPass Education Package, for access to year-round education opportunities with a single registration.

The United Fresh Start Foundation’s Season of Giving Back is a month-long initiative that celebrates generosity and builds a culture of volunteerism, according to the e-mail.

Some of the ways to support the Season of Giving Back, Muzyk said, is to become a corporate sponsor.

“We’re celebrating produce industry companies, non-profit partners and schools that have gone above and beyond to make fresh fruit and vegetables available for children and families in need,” Muzyk said in the e-mail. “With your support, we’ll highlight these partnerships to the industry and beyond.”

United Fresh volunteer opportunities include giving time and expertise to schools and non-profit organizations looking for advice and technical support in serving fresh produce to their communities.

Finally, he said spurred members to support United Fresh with a year-end gift supporting the group’s charitable initiatives.

“Your $100 raffle ticket purchase is your entry to three interactive, virtual networking events that will bring our community together for holiday cheer!

I’ve found that giving to United Fresh is an investment that returns ten-fold.”
