Before the pandemic, women in the workforce were thriving. After, is what United Fresh Produce Association is calling the “she-cession.”

United Fresh found that stress and isolation have increased for almost everyone, with 68% of the women reporting feeling more isolated and lonelier, while 77% reported being “more” or “much more” stressed, according to a recent survey.

To better help women cope with their anxiety, isolation and overwhelming situations, United Fresh is hosting a webinar, Women in Produce: Overcoming the She-cession together.

Women are 26% more likely to apply for remote jobs than men are, further increasing the loneliness aspect the pandemic causes, according to a recent article by Linkedin, Millions of Women Lost Jobs in 2020 — Here’s How They’re Coming Back.

And 90% of women feel an obligation to speak up for other women during these times, while 66% say they are more open to discussing their stress levels with colleagues now then before the pandemic, according to a news release from United Fresh.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Risa Mish, professor of practice and management, Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Mish’s talk will be followed by one-on-one meetings for participants to engage with one another and help combat loneliness and isolation.

The meeting will be at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, March 30. Registration is available here.
