USDA announces virtual Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee meeting

(USDA)

The USDA has announced in the Federal Register that the agency’s Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee (FVIAC) will hold a virtual meeting on Feb. 1.

The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is organizing the meeting, which is open to the public, according to a news release.
The committee will meet via online seminar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST, and interested parties can register in advance for the web seminar at this link.

Meeting details and an opportunity for public comment on issues affecting the fruit and vegetable industry were published in the Federal Register on Dec. 27, according to the release.
The public can submit written comments related to the fruit and vegetable industry at www.regulations.gov. The deadline to submit written comments is 11:59 p.m. EST, Jan. 26, according to the release.

For special accommodations, contact Darrell Hughes, FVIAC designated federal officer, at (202) 348-2576 or SCPFVIAC@usda.gov

The USDA established the committee in 2001 to examine the full spectrum of issues facing the fruit and vegetable industry and to create a forum to provide suggestions and ideas to the department on ways to improve programs to meet the changing needs of the produce industry, according to the release. Committee members represent a broad cross-section of the industry.

Information about the meeting and the committee is available on the AMS FVIAC webpage.
