The U.S. Department of Agriculture has cited Tumi Produce International Corp., Bronx, N.Y., for failing to pay for more than half a million dollars of produce.

The company did not pay $563,831 to seven produce sellers that was accepted in interstate commerce from October 2016 to May 2017, according to a USDA news release from the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act branch.

As a result of non-payment, Tumi Produce International is prohibited from the produce industry until Nov. 19, 2020, and only if they apply for and are issued a new PACA license from the USDA.

Company principals William Bracho and Catherine Bracho can not be employed by or affiliated with a PACA licensee until Nov. 19, 2019, and only if they post a USDA-approved surety bond, according to the release.
