Pelion, S.C.-based leafy greens grower, processor and shipper WP Rawl celebrated its 100th year in business with a celebration and ribbon-cutting of its newly expanded Busy Bee Farm exhibit at the EdVenture Children’s Museum in Columbia, S.C.

WP Rawl said the exhibit doubled in size from its original, which opened five years ago. The new exhibit features more hands-on activities for children including educational displays and interactive elements designed to inspire curiosity and understanding of the operation from seed to delivery, according to a news release.

The company, also known as Walter P. Rawl and Sons Inc., said it hosted a community day at the children’s museum, offering free admission to the first 100 visitors Jan. 26. WP Rawl team members shared insights into the company, products and their roles during the community day. The company also gave away a commemorative cookbook with more than 100 recipes from the Rawl family members and others who were a part of the business for the company’s last 100 years.

The company hosted an internal cake-cutting celebration for each department to commemorate the milestone and highlight the dedication and hard work of each team member. WP Rawl said it also partnered with a gourmet custom cookie decorator to help its over-the-road drivers celebrate the milestone.

WP Rawl will continue its celebration throughout the year.

“We proudly partnered with the EdVenture Children’s Museum again to expand the Busy Bee Farm exhibit,” Ashley Rawl, vice president of sales, marketing and product development at WP Rawl, said in the release. “Our team, in collaboration with the EdVenture team, has poured their hearts into creating this new exhibit. Five years ago, we opened our first farm exhibit here at EdVenture and has now expanded to showcase the full scope of WP Rawl’s operations. We are excited about the educational experience this exhibit will provide for the children who visit. A huge thank you to the team who helped make all of this possible.”
