Jet Precooler Inc. has unveiled the Brute Jet Precooler, a portable forced-air cooling system designed to improve the pre-cooling of produce.
The Jet Precooler offers enhanced airflow for quicker cooling times, the company said. This updated version features durable coating, twin fans that together produce airflow of 61,000 cubic feet per minute at 1-inch static pressure, as well as a tarp-roller assembly, according to a news release.
The company said research has shown that quicker pre-cooling in the postharvest process not only preserves produce freshness, but also helps to retain the weight of produce, and it ultimately results in a longer shelf life and helps reduce waste.
“Quality pre-cooling is often underestimated,” said Marc Nail, owner of Jet Precooler.
The company said portability of the Jet Precooler adds another layer of convenience, as it integrates into existing cooling setups and can be moved easily. The pre-cooler is delivered semi-preassembled and fully wired, and with a small assembly of the tarp-roller, it is ready to plug in and use, the release said.
The Brute Jet Precooler can also be used for heating, reheating, thawing, tempering and drying produce, according to the company.
Jet Precoolers are assembled in Bakersfield, Calif.; the company also has a specific version for Canada, a stainless-steel Super Cooler two-tier high-pallet racked pre-cooler for grapes, along with a 12-pallet self-contained trailer, a modular in-field pre-cooler as well as small commercial-grade vacuum tubes.
