Consalo Family Farms announced on Oct. 27 it had appointed Judy Spires as its chair of retail strategy and industry relations.

“Judy Spires’ experience and reputation in our industry are second to none,” says Skip Consalo, CEO of Consalo Family Farms. “Her guidance will help us strengthen our partnerships with leading retailers, expand our branded programs and continue building on nearly a century of family legacy and growth.”

With more than four decades of distinguished leadership experience, Spires has held senior executive roles across several of the nation’s leading supermarket organizations. She served as president of Acme Markets, president of Albertsons’ Dallas–Fort Worth division, and president of Albertsons’ Rocky Mountain division. She later became chairman and CEO of KB US Holdings, the parent company of Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s, where she led both banners through a period of modernization and growth.

Beyond her executive career, Spires continues to play a national leadership role in advancing the food industry, diversity and education. She currently serves as a board member of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and as an executive-in-residence at Saint Joseph’s University Haub School of Business, mentoring emerging leaders in food retail and consumer products.

In her new role, Spires will work closely with the Consalo family leadership team to guide retail strategy, industry outreach and long-term business development for the company’s portfolio of fresh produce brands: Consalo Family Farms, Freshwave, and Little Smoochies.

“The Consalo family represents the best of the produce industry — authenticity, quality and integrity,” Spires says. “I’m honored to collaborate with Skip Consalo and his family to support their continued expansion and to help shape the next generation of growth for their brands.”
