Yakima, Wash.-based Kwik Lok says Don Carrell, its CEO since 2019, will step down. Eric Hill, regional vice president and general manager of Graphic Packaging International, will be Carrell’s successor.

Carrell, who previously held the title of chief operating officer at Kwik Lok before becoming CEO, helped steer the company as it expanded its portfolio of sustainable closure options, according to a news release. Kwik Lok said he will remain with the company as a consultant to ensure a seamless transition.

The company said Hill has a strong background in renewable and recycled packaging and recyclable materials. He began at Graphic Packaging International as a plant manager.

Hill holds a bachelor’s degree and chemistry from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in paper science technology from the Institute of Paper Science Technology.

“Don’s contribution to our business have been numerous and we thank him for his hard work and dedication during his years at Kwik Lok,” said Kimberly Paxton-Hagner, president of Kwik Lok’s board. “As Eric takes on the CEO role, we face a rapidly changing environment driven by technological advancements, evolving regulations, and shifting market dynamics. Eric’s experience in driving rapid change and expertise in managing growth will be key to reaching the next levels of success taking our company to the next generation of ownership and customers.”
