Mexican hydroponic greenhouse grower Magic Sun has created a new position, sales operations director, and hired Alejandra Garcia for the role.

Garcia Will focus on commercial markets, finance, purchasing and operations to create efficiencies and assist with business development, according to Magic Sun, which has a sales office in Richmond, Va.

She has a background in executive sales, commercial account management and operational support services from a variety of industries, according to the release.

Alejandro Santander, vice president of sales and operations and a founder of Magic Sun, said the COVID-19 pandemic has affected domestic and Mexican tomato markets, with some of the demand lost from foodservice sales moving to the retail sector.

Magic Sun’s seven Mexican greenhouses in central Mexico are expanding “and building critical mass to develop even more efficiencies,” according to the release.

Magic Sun is the label for Globalmex International Inc., which has more than 180 acres of production.
