Monterey Mushrooms promotes Greg Sweet to COO

Monterey Mushrooms, Watsonville, Calif., has promoted Greg Sweet to chief operating officer, a new position for the company.

Monterey Mushrooms, Watsonville, Calif., has promoted Greg Sweet to chief operating officer, a new position for the company.

Sweet joined Monterey Mushrooms in 1997, and has been in various leadership roles, most recently as regional vice president of operations for farms and facilities in the Eastern U.S. As regional vice president, he supported corporate technical services and innovation initiatives, according to a news release.

As chief operating officer, Sweet is responsible for strategic growth, fresh operations and sales, modernizing and expanding production, technical services and leadership development, according to the release.

“Greg is a collaborative leader, and creative problem solver with the ability to adapt priorities to take care of our customers and develop the next generation of leaders,” Shah Kazemi, president and CEO, said in the release. “Monterey will benefit from the expertise, rigor, passion, and leadership qualities of such a seasoned executive.”

Sweet is based in the Knoxville, Ky., area.
