The National Mango Board elected new officers during its March 13 board meeting in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The officers will lead the board in accordance with the Commodity Promotion, Research, and Information Act of 1996 and the Mango Order, the National Mango Board said in a news release.

“Congratulations to the newly elected NMB officers and the Executive Committee members in 2023,” board Executive Director Manuel Michel said in the release. “We look forward to working with the new NMB leadership and receiving their guidance to develop successful marketing and communication programs that continue driving mango demand and consumption. While at the same time supporting research projects and industry relation events that provide value and maintain a strong and vibrant mango industry.”

Albert Perez of Miami will serve as board chair with Thomas Hall of Oxnard, Calif., as vice chair. Serving as secretary will be Cesar Morocho of Piura, Peru, with Luis Carlos Martinez of Guatemala City, Guatemala, elected as treasurer, according to the release.

Four members will serve on the executive board supporting the newly elected officers:

  • Carlos Palafox of Jalisco, Mexico, as the industry relations officer.

  • Alyssa Hind of Hidalgo, Texas, as the marketing and communications chair.

  • Rod Chamberlain of Mecca, Calif., as the research and industry relations chair.

  • Clark Golden of Vineland, N.J., as ex-officio.

The officers, with the rest of the National Mango board members, will continue to uphold the board’s mission to increase the consumption of mango in the U.S. by inspiring consumers and educating them about the culture, flavor and nutrition of mangoes while bringing the industry together, according to the release.
