(CORRECTED) Revol Greens, Owatonna, Minn., has hired Mark Schulze as CEO, along with a number of other personnel additions, and has expanded its Minnesota greenhouse.
Schulze, who joined Revol Greens in March, has been involved in agricultural commodity investments and managing risk in capital markets. He most recently was a partner at Braemar Investment Group, and a partner at Twin Harvest Capital before that. He has also been a senior portfolio manager at Black River Asset Management. From 1983 to 2000, he was in leadership roles at Cargill Inc.
Tom Thompson joined the company in January as vice president of market strategy. He was a partner and vice president at Golden Sun Marketing, vice president of strategy and business partnerships at J&J Distributing and was at Robinson Fresh for more than six years, in roles including strategic account manager and sourcing analytics manager.
Other recent additions at Revol Greens include:
- John Carkoski, general manager, Minnesota;
- Chad Ianneo, general manager, California;
- Yolanda Acevedo, compliance and food safety manager;
- Carlos Cambero, head grower, California;
- Wendy Swope, senior controller; and
- Mary Lou Corpus-Zamudio, human resources manager.
The company has expanded the Minnesota greenhouse from two to 10 acres, according to a news release. In Tehachapi, Calif., the company is converting the former Sun Select Produce greenhouse from a tomato and pepper production facility to an advance technology facility growing leafy greens.
“Our expansion in Minnesota and California is smoother and has been accelerated given that our core Sun Select leadership team remains intact with the transition,” Ianneo, the former president of Sun Select, said in a news release. “The past three months of uncertainty in our food system along with site development and customer conversations have only reinforced our vision of how we plan to reshape the lettuce category.”
