Revol Greens, Owatonna, Minn., has hired Michael Wainscott as chief financial officer, a new role at the company.

He most recently was chief financial officer of Benson Hill, a company that has a crop design platform designed to develop heathier, more sustainable food and ingredients, according to a news release. He was chief financial officer and co-founder of Technology Crops International and chief financial officer at Kings Inc., a subsidiary of Associated British Foods.

“Michael shares Revol’s vision to build five facilities in five years,” Mark Schulze, Revol Greens CEO, said in the release. “His highly relevant experience in the areas of management, operations, venture equity, funding and risk management are an essential piece to meeting our business goals.”

His hiring follows a recent $68 million in funding round for Revol Greens.

“There’s significant opportunity in the indoor growing sector and Revol Greens is well-positioned to continue scaling this concept across the U.S.,” Wainscott said in the release. “Revol represents the future of safe, sustainable and locally sourced greens; I believe in the model and am honored to join this deep bench of expertise and innovation.”

The company has raised $215 million in financing, according to the release, and it is building a 20-acre phase of a planned 80-acre facility in Texas.
