Yuba City, Calif.-based Sunsweet Growers has named company veteran Brad Schuler as its CEO.

Schuler, who is the fourth consecutive CEO to be hired from within the company, will succeed current CEO and President Dane Lance, who will step down after a nearly 35-year career with Sunsweet, according to a news release.

“There’s no doubt Brad has a vision for the next decade and the personal drive to lead Sunsweet to its highest levels of performance ever,” Lance said in the release. “Brad embodies what we call the ‘Sunsweet Way’ of stretch for results, do the right thing, take personal ownership and work together to win.”

Schuler has been with Sunsweet Growers for 25 years. His focus in his new role will be continued re-investment in production assets, a migration toward new enterprise software with artificial intelligence capabilities and organizational training to use these new tools, the release said.

“Brad has demonstrated the ability to grow Sunsweet’s business, and he’s been pivotal in helping foster a unique business strategy and culture at Sunsweet that generates high performance toward relentlessly building the Sunsweet brand for the future,” Brendon Flynn, Sunsweet board chairman, said in the release.
