Apple holdings in March up 35% over same time last year

A U.S. Apple Association report shows apple holdings for March are also 25% higher than the five-year average for the month.

The U.S. Apple Association’s March holdings report shows apple holdings at 84 million bushels, which is 35% higher than March 2023 and 25% higher than the five-year average for the month.

USApple reports processing apple holdings at 35 million bushels, which is 31% higher than inventories last March and 25% higher than the five-year average.

In February, USApple said holdings stood at 98 million bushels, which was up 36% from Feb. 1, 2023. Processing apples totaled 39 million bushels in February, which was 26% higher than the same month last year.

In the March report, USApple said Washington continues to lead all states with more than 93,593,333 bushels of fresh and processing apples. New York was second with more than 8,739,231 million bushels, followed by Michigan with 7.4 million bushels.

USApple reports that the industry moved 13.9 million bushels of fresh apples and 4.7 million bushels of processing apples from February’s report.

In the March report, Honeycrisp continues to lead all varieties with more than 17,364,674 bushels, followed by red delicious with 17,293,258 bushels and gala with 15,332,382 bushels.
