Titan Farms recently showcased peaches in a Florida school, teaching students about growing practices and agriculture in general.

Titan Farms, Ridge Spring, S.C., visited Lakewood Elementary, Fort Pierce, Fla., to talk with first graders, according to a news release. Titan Farms’ Sandra White, an account manager, and Adrian Morales, peach farmer at Riverside Citrus Harvesting, visited with the students.

A farm to school specialist for Child Nutrition Services at St. Lucie Public Schools extended the invitation as a tie-in to serving peaches with meals.

“They were so enthusiastic, which made sharing our knowledge with them even more meaningful as we believe it is important for all children to know where and how our fruits and vegetables are grown,” Morales said in the release. “Educating a young generation of children about food sources can help them and their parents make important healthy choices in grocery stores and their everyday diets.”

Morales also brought some locally grown peaches for the students.

“It’s not every day that you get to talk to students who are genuinely interested in learning about peaches and growing practices,” White said in the release. “I hope that there are more opportunities like this in the future.”
