Cranberry growers have voted to continue their federal marketing order program.
The vote, from May 6-28, was 79% in favor of continuing the program, representing 82% of the volume produced by those who cast a vote, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The marketing order covers production research, marketing research, market development and paid advertising, and is grower funded. The program requires a vote on whether to continue it every four years.
According to a news release, the program covers growers in:
- Massachusetts
- Rhode Island
- Connecticut
- New Jersey
- Wisconsin
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Oregon
- Washington
- Long Island, N.Y.
