In the latest YouTube video series orchard update from Domex Superfresh Growers, Dave Gleason, chief horticulturist for the company, shares what apple growers do after harvest, the importance of pruning and more.

In the video, Gleason discusses the importance of dormant pruning in one of the company’s gala blocks. Dormant pruning, Gleason says, helps ensure a proper, high-quality crop for future seasons. He also stresses the importance of the proper balance of flower and leaf buds.

“If we don’t have enough flowers, we won’t have enough apples,” Gleason said in the video. “Of course, if we have too many flowers, then there’s too much competition for the nutrients in the tree.”
