Yakima, Wash.-based FirstFruits Farms has started its 10th year of growing and selling the Sweetie-branded apple.

“Our consumers eagerly await the Sweetie season every year,” Chuck Zeutenhorst, president of FirstFruits Marketing, said in a news release. “This year marks our 10th year of the Sweetie season, and we look forward to another successful year of satisfying our consumers.”

The Sweetie season kicks off in September, and will be in select retailers nationwide through October, according to the release.

The Sweetie apple variety, the release said, contains some of the best attributes from the royal gala and the braeburn varieties. The variety was discovered in France.

Sweeties are a versatile apple that can be used in cooking, baking or snacking, the release said.
