FPAA debuts Women’s Leadership Invitational during conference

The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas is launching the Women’s Leadership Invitational during its 50th fall convention, featuring women who inspire and lead the way in the produce industry.

The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas is launching the Women’s Leadership Invitational during its 50th fall convention, featuring women who inspire and lead the way in the produce industry.

The Women’s Leadership Invitational will be from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 2, and includes these speakers, according to a news release:

  • Rosie Favela Cornelius, who received the Pillar of the FPAA Award this year. She’s worked in the industry for more than 30 years and has been involved in planning past FPAA conventions.
  • Sabrina Hallman of Sierra Seed, and an FPAA board member. She is the moderator and mistress of ceremonies during the invitational.
  • Pati Jinich, keynote speaker at the convention and host of “Pati’s Mexican Table” on PBS. A James Beard award winner, Jinich will speak about her challenges and tips for success.
  • Cathy Burns, CEO of the Produce Marketing Association and former president of retailer Food Lion.

“We are so excited to have this new event featuring leading women,” the FPAA’s Marlene Lopez said in the release. “We have already received positive response from local community leaders and we can’t wait for the Women’s Leadership Invitational at the Fall Convention.”

The 50th Nogales Produce Convention and Golf Tournament is Nov. 1-3 at the Tubac (Ariz.) Golf Resort and Spa. The event features a diverse group of speakers, a culinary showcase of Mexico’s produce and more.
