The U.S. Department of Agriculture is asking for nominations for three grower seats on the Mushroom Council.

The three-year terms for the new members begin at the start of 2022. Nominations are due May 1, according to a news release.

The Mushroom Council will have an election to select nominees, which are sent to the USDA for approval. Each year, three spots open on the nine-member board.

Two grower positions in Region 2 (Pennsylvania) and one in Region 3 (California) will be filled in the process. The board’s promotion and research activities are funded by assessments on mushrooms grown in the U.S. or imported into the country.

For a nomination application, contact Bart Minor, Mushroom Council president, or Cheryl Abate, operations manager, at 816-251-4512 or Bart@mushroomcouncil.org and Cheryl@mushroomcouncil.org. Questions can also go to Jeanette Palmer, USDA marketing specialist, at 202-720-5976 or Jeanette.Palmer@usda.gov.
