USDA to hold web seminar on farm and food workers relief grant program

(USDA)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service will hold an informational webinar for eligible organizations interested in applying for the Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) Grant Program on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET.

The webinar will provide an overview of the grant and application requirements, introduce the technical assistance providers and give information on how to obtain support during the application process.

On Nov. 10, 2021, USDA announced that it is accepting applications for the new program. The Request for Application is open for 90 days and closes Feb. 8, 2022.

The webinar will be held via ZOOM.  Please register for the webinar using the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_X79q0IsIRYmXipWuZTO7ag. You will receive an email confirmation after registering.

Participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance to the FFWR grant program at FFWRGrants@usda.gov.

Through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, the FFWR program makes available approximately $665 million in competitive grants to state agencies, tribal entities and nonpro fit organizations with experience providing support or relief services to farmworkers or meatpacking workers. Of this amount, $20 million is set aside for at least one pilot program to support grocery workers. Grant awards will generally range from $5,000,000 to $50,000,000.

Awarded entities will distribute $600 flat rate relief payments to frontline farmworkers, meatpacking workers or grocery store workers who incurred expenses preparing for, preventing exposure to, and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More information about the program is available at www.ams.usda.gov/ffwr.
