The USDA has purchased more than 450,000 cartons of mandarins and tangerines for the agency’s child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs.
The announcement of the purchase indicated that the fresh mandarins and tangerines were purchased on an fob destination basis.
Deliveries for the purchases will be made from Feb. 13 to June 28 this year, the agency said.
The purchase includes 454,800 cartons of tangerines and mandarins, packed with six 5-pound bags. The purchase price for the fresh fruit varied from $21.63 to $36.70 per carton, with the total purchase reported at $12.4 million, according to the award description.
